MEET THOMAS
Thomas Mercer disappeared in 1978. Decades later, Morgan comes face to face with a man who should have been lost to time. He looks about fifty, not old enough to account for all forty-eight missing years.
When he appears, another younger Thomas is already with Morgan. They share a beginning, but they are two real, physically separate men. Bellweather has made their lives impossibly different.

HIS STORY BEGINS
In The Thirteenth Hour, Chapter Twenty, an older voice answers from the darkness. Thomas Mercer appears beyond a doorway, and the people who remember him must confront the years that have passed.
The other Thomas is already on the near side of the threshold. Thomas approaches, but the house will not allow him to cross. The obstacle is real, and so are both men.
WHAT TO KNOW
Thomas has endured the rooms since the 1978 disappearance. He remembers Richard, Margaret, and Evelyn, and he knows the cost of the wrong door.
His story is not a simple case of someone returning unchanged. The older Thomas has lived through a different passage of time, carrying the history the others are still trying to understand.
SIGNATURE LOOK
Thomas is approximately fifty years old and 5'6.5" tall. He has a sturdy, rugged build, green eyes, naturally wavy red-auburn hair touched with restrained gray, and a full mature ginger-red beard with subtle gray.
His established outfit is a dark charcoal Celtic-pattern knit sweater, dark indigo-to-black jeans, and worn dark-brown leather boots. He wears silver ear jewelry, layered silver chains including a cross, rings, a simple leather bracelet, and a watch. He has no tattoos.
Naturally wavy red-auburn hair with restrained gray, green eyes, and a mature full red beard with subtle gray.
